A Journey of Purpose, Preparation, and Persistence: Tammie Daugherty

After experiencing a layoff, Tammie Daugherty chose to pause—not out of uncertainty, but out of intention. That time became an opportunity for self-healing and reflection, allowing space to reconnect with personal worth and realign mind, body, and spirit. This period of reset laid the foundation for what would become a focused and successful next chapter.

Today, Tammie works at Zinnia as part of the Annuities Contact Center – Life Solutions team, having started on August 25th. The role represents more than just a new position—it marks the result of careful preparation, resilience, and clarity of purpose.

When it was time to re-enter the job market, the approach was strategic and deliberate. Rather than applying broadly, she invested time researching each prospective company—reviewing financials, culture, values, and employee testimonials before ever submitting an application. Résumés and cover letters were intentionally crafted to mirror the exact skills required for each role, helping to land interviews and instill confidence during the hiring process.

A key part of this journey was the support received from Work for Warriors Georgia (W4WGA). Through detailed résumé discussions, Patrick provided honest and impactful feedback that strengthened the application materials. Yet, it was his consistency and follow-through that made the greatest difference. His willingness to check in, keep his word, and offer encouragement during challenging moments provided motivation when it was needed most.

“The follow-up, job referrals, and simply knowing someone genuinely cared was refreshing and inspiring,” Daugherty shared. That level of personal connection helped reinforce confidence and momentum throughout the process.

Although she is not currently serving in the military, service remains close to home. Their son, Kyle Daugherty Jr., serves as a Signal Officer (25A – Communications Officer), a source of pride and inspiration.

When asked whether they would recommend Work for Warriors Georgia to a close friend, the answer was a resounding yes. And for those beginning their own employment journey, the message was simple but powerful: Patrick is a rockstar.

This story is a reminder that thriving in a job search—or a new role—often begins with intentional self-care, thoughtful preparation, and the support of people who truly invest in your success.
