Building Momentum Through Mentorship:
Darius Trimble’s Career Journey

Darius Trimble, a member of the Georgia National Guard (MOS 13B), is actively working toward building a stronger and more sustainable career path while continuing his military service. Like many Guardsmen, Darius sought better employment opportunities that aligned with his long-term goals and personal growth.
“I’ve improved a lot in networking and in giving and receiving feedback.”
In November 2025, Darius began working as a Package Handler, marking an important step forward in his professional journey. Along the way, he has continued to develop valuable workplace skills that will support his future career advancement.
Darius connected with Work for Warriors Georgia (W4WGA) after recalling a conversation with his Employment Coordinator, Sam, during a Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) event. Encouraged by that interaction, Darius registered for the program and completed an intake call focused on both his current employment and long-term goals.
“Sam wasn’t just my Employment Coordinator—he became a mentor.”
As part of his job search, Darius worked closely with Sam, attending job fairs and exploring opportunities together. While not every opportunity resulted in immediate placement, Darius credits the mentorship, honest feedback, and structured guidance—particularly a personalized 30–90 day plan—as pivotal in keeping him motivated and focused.
“He allowed me to speak my goals and was direct about what was achievable.”
Darius describes Work for Warriors Georgia as a professional organization led by experienced veterans who understand the unique challenges faced by service members and their families. He has already encouraged fellow Soldiers in his unit to take advantage of the program’s support.
Although Darius enjoys his current role, he remains focused on future growth. He is actively pursuing IT certifications to build a stronger career path and expand his opportunities beyond his current position.
“Anyone in the National Guard seeking employment can use Work for Warriors Georgia.”
